In 2018 156,248 couples got married in Florida – the majority were destination weddings on the beaches on the West Coast and East Coast. On the SunCoast (also referred to as the Gulf or West Central Coast), we married more than 14,000 couples in 2018.
Destination weddings are extremely popular because of the beautiful weather, islands, keys, resorts and beaches in Sarasota, Venice, Bradenton, and St. Petersburg. The West Coast of Florida is also moderately priced and easy to get to when compared with other destinations.
Beach Weddings: A permit is NOT always required to have a wedding on a public beach. But, if you have a large guest count or want to reserve a section of the sand for a certain amount of time, you may need to obtain one. Ask your wedding officiant for information or to obtain a permit for you. Sarasota and Manatee public beaches are located on the west from Manasota Key, then north to Venice, Siesta public beach, Lido Key, Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. Two of the most popular area beaches are Siesta Key public beach and Lido key public beach. Both of these beaches are in Sarasota, Florida and permits are required if you want any type of wedding ceremony decorations or chairs.
In addition to the fabulous venues, don’t forget that we have experienced, knowledgeable and affordable wedding officiants, photographers, florists, hair and makeup professionals, DJs, musicians and planners. If you are planning a destination wedding, it’s a good idea to work with a professional who knows the area, reputable vendors and going rates for services – you can even book an affordable wedding package to suit your needs and save you time and money.
